Sandrine ROBERT is a lecturer at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in the Geography and History of Territories, the Environment, Resources and Societies Group (GGh-Terres-CRH). An archeogeographer, her research focuses on long-term landscape resilience. She analyzes how spatial forms and networks are transmitted. From 2007 to 2014, she coordinated the Collective Research Project “Dynamique et résilience des réseaux routiers en région Ile-de-France” (dynamics and resilience of road networks in the Ile-de-France region). She is founder and chair of the Theory and Methods in Landscape Archeology-Archeogeography Committee at the International Union of Prehistoric and Protohistoric Sciences. She teaches workshops on the “production, transmission and resilience of landscape forms: archeogeography” and “GISs, a tool for interdisciplinarity” at EHESS.

France LAVIGNE is a professor of geography at the University of Paris 1 and the current head of the Physical Geography Laboratory in Meudon (France). He is the co-head of the “Environmental and social dynamics of risk” Work-Package of the LabEx DynamiTe. His research is on natural risks and disasters, with a focus on the environmental and social consequences of volcanic eruptions and tsunamis. He is running and has run several research programs on these topics with funding from the CNRS (PICS), government ministries (MFA, DIPT), and the private sector (AXA Research Fund). On the European level, he is leading and has led a Work Package and been a CNRS partner coordinator in two FP7 programs. He has authored 80 peer-reviewed publications, more than 80% of which in international journals, 2 books, and 33 chapters in collective works.

Véronique DUPONT is a senior research fellow in urban demography at the Institute of Research for Development (IRD), France, in the CESSMA research unit – the Centre for Social Sciences Studies on Africa, America and Asia – in Paris. She is presently the joint director of CESSMA (a joint research unit of University Paris-Diderot –INALCO – IRD). She is also an associated member of the Centre for Indian and South Asian Studies in Paris (EHESS-CNRS), and a senior visiting fellow at the Centre for Policy Research in Delhi. She was the Director of the Centre for Social Sciences and Humanities (CSH) of New Delhi from 2003 to 2007.

Her research aims at a better understanding of the socio-spatial dynamics of Indian metropolises. Her present work focuses on informal settlements, urban policies and the treatment of ‘slums’, the residential strategies and mobilisation of informal settlers.
